Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Episcopal church for Arthur Chattaway, 36, a partner in Petoskey's oldest grocery company, who died suddenly yesterday following a heart attack.
Mr. Chattaway died at Little Traverse Hospital shortly after he was admitted.
His father, the late Percival Joseph Chattaway, established a grocery store in 1907 which has been a Mitchell-st. business place since that time. It was operated by Arthur and his sister, Doris, in recent years.
Mr. Chattaway is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Bradford, 11 and Joseph, 9; his sister, Doris Chattaway of Petoskey and a brother, Thurland.
Mr. Chattaway was born in Petoskey, March 7, 1919.
He was active in boating and built his own family cruiser two years ago. He was a member of the Petoskey Outboard Cruising Club, the Masonic Lodge here and Emmanuel Episcopal Church. He had served as a vestryman in the church.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three and a half years, joining September of 1942. He was married to Helen Bricker in Harbor Springs October 7, 1940.
The body is at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may call until Wednesday afternoon. Fr. Dwaine W. Filkins will be in charge of services and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will be at Stone's tonight.
