Mrs. Hitchings
Dies Suddenly

Mrs. Charles Hitchings, of 519 State-st, died unexpectedly shortly before noon Thursday at her home after a heart attack.

The body was taken to the Stone Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements were to be made later today.

Mrs. Hitchings was the former Beatrice Chattaway, life-long resident of Petoskey.

Rites Saturday

Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Charles Hitchings, Sr., who died yesterday at her home, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Jayne in charge at Stone's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

She was born here, June 5, 1905, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Chattaway, and was married to Charles Hitchings on August 15, 1924 in Petoskey. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Women's Society for Christian Service.

Mrs. Hitchings was a former associate in her father's grocery business, then she and her husband opened their own market in 1937 which they operated for a number of years.

She is survived by her husband, and children Charles Jr., of Petoskey; Arthur of Grand Rapids; Margaret of Mishawaka, Ind.; and Reva, of Petoskey, Gerald, Grand Rapids, and Constance and Christine at home; a sister Doris Chattaway; two brothers, Arthur Chattaway of Petoskey and Thurland, of Utica and six grandchildren.
