Obituary

Petoskey News-Review, Monday, June 6, 1977:

Ted Erfourth, 68

Services for A. J. (Ted) Erfourth, 68, Petoskey, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church. Fr. Robert Behne, OFM, will officiate and interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Mr. Erfourth died unexpectedly late Saturday afternoon.

He was born in Boyne City on Aug. 22, 1908, and was a graduate of Boyne City High School. He married the former Mildred Lyons on May 12, 1941, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey.

Mr. Erfourth worked as a purchasing agent for the Top-O-Michigan Rural Electric Co-op in Boyne City and retired in 1973 after 36 years there.

He was a member of the St. Francis Parish and Holy Name Society; past exalted ruler of the Petoskey Elks No. 629; a member of the Boyne City Fraternal Order of Eagles; was a past officer of the Petoskey Bowling Association and an avid bowler.

Mr. Erfourth is survived by his widow; two sons, Donald of Phoenix, Ariz., and Douglas of Artesia, Calif.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his mother, Mrs. Eva Erfourth of Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan; three brothers, Carl of Tucson, Ariz., Cecil of Rudyard and Harvey of Lincoln Park.

The family suggests that anyone wishing to honor the memory of Mr. Erfourth, may do so by contributing in his name to the St. Francis Building Fund.

The body is at the Winchester-Hallead Funeral Home in Petoskey where an Elks memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Monday) and a Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
