CONSTANCE LAWRENCE

Constance, 67, of Frederic, Michigan formerly of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013. She was born to Charles and Beatrice Hitchings. in Petoskey, Michigan.

Connie graduated from Petoskey High School. On May 20, 1967 she married Carl Lawrence and raised a family in Grand Ledge. Connie retired from Meijer where she worked as a cashier. She then went on to drive a school bus for the Grand Ledge Public Schools.

Connie was a founding member of the Critter Alley Wildlife Recovery Center in Grand Ledge where she served as the Treasurer for several years. She was an animal lover who enjoyed raising, rehabilitating and releasing countless animals back into the wild. During which time she also managed to keep a few dogs and parrots as pets. Connie enjoyed reading and loved spending time with family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Carl; brothers, Gerald Hitchings, Arthur "Bud" Hitchings, Charles Hitchings Jr.; sisters, Reva Atkalns, Christine Hitchings, Margaret "Peg" Hitchings, and her parents.

Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Lawrence of Eaton Rapids; son, Scott (Victoria) Lawrence of Lansing; grandchildren, Kelly Brooks, Shannon Harmon; great grandchildren, J.D. Harmon, Kiara Harmon, Arianna Harmon as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, with Pastor Sherry McGuffin officiating.
