Erskine A. Botsford, master of Emmet County Pomona Grange, and one of the widely known Grange workers, farmers and workers in the Emmet County Agricultural society, died most unexpectedly Friday night at about 11 o'clock at the family home in Resort township. Death was due to high blood pressure. Mr. Botsford had felt slightly ill during the day, suffering from pains in the region of the heart. During the evening he became worse and a physician was summoned.

Mr. Botsford was born at Ramsden Corners, Ohio, August 30, 1859, and came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David W. Botsford, to Petoskey in 1874. The family settled on the Botsford farm in Resort which has been Mr. Botsford's home since then. Mr. Botsford married Miss Anna H. Miller November 7, 1886.

For many years Mr. Botsford taught school in the region, was a member of the county board of school examiners, held many township offices. For several years, during his early life, he was connected with the old Petoskey Democrat, assisting in the printing of the paper.

Surviving him are the widow, two sons, Halcot W. Botsford, of Flint, and Kenneth B. Botsford, of Resort; and three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Angell, of Harbor Springs; Mrs. George McNamara, of Good Hart, and Miss Ramona Botsford, of Flint. Two sisters also survive him: Mrs. Jacob Moore, of Harbor Springs, and Mrs. Ola Watson, of Argomia, Kansas.
