John J. Borowski, 71 September 21, 2011
John  J. Borowski, 71, a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and great friend, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sept. 12, 2011, whom he served and loved.

The second son of Frank and Anna (Krupa) Borowski was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Cross Village. He attended Harbor Springs High School, graduating in 1959.

On Nov. 11, 1961, John married Connie Marshall, and although their marriage ended their friendship continued for the rest of his life. John and Connie moved to Walled Lake, Mich., in 1964 where they lived for seven years. On returning to Northern Michigan, they built a home in Center Township.

John retired in 2002 after working 24 years for the Harbor Springs School District. In 2001, he received an OPIE Award (Outstanding Person in Education.) Retirement gave John the opportunity to pursue favorite pastimes; gardening, watching his favorite sports and spending time with his grandchildren. John was always available to help family and friends. He had a wonderful heart and a great sense of humor.       John is survived by two daughters and three grandchildren, Robin Moyer (Tim) and their sons, Tyler and Nathan, of Boyne City. Amber Borowski and her daughter, Emilee, of Harbor Springs; three brothers, Ed Borowski (Sue) of Manistique, James Borowski of Harbor Springs and Stanley Borowski (Margaret) of Petoskey; and Connie Marshall, former wife and close friend.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Borowski, and by his brother, Tom Borowski.

A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Cross Village. A luncheon will follow the service at Holy Childhood parish hall.

Arrangements were handled by Charles G. Parks Funeral Home in Petoskey.
