Maude Boynton, 97

Funeral services for Maude Boynton, 97, of Harbor Springs, will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gillian-Erwin Funeral Chapel. Rev. Rodney Ward will officiate and interment will be in Friendship Township Cemetery.

The former Maude Ward was born Oct. 17, 1881, the first white child born in Friendship Township. She married George Boynton Oct. 6, 1897 in Friendship Township. He preceded her in death in 1944.

During World War II, Mrs. Boynton was active in the Loambard Women's Relief Corp. She was a member of the Good Hart Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Neil, George and Jack, all of Harbor Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Ruby) Kidder and Mrs. Cliff (Loretta) Hoover, both of Harbor Springs, and Mrs. Ward (Hope) Weaver of Wolverine; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Gillian-Erwin Funeral Chapel beginning Friday.
