Minnie Wiklanski, 86

Minnie Wiklanski, 86, of Harbor Springs died Oct. 10, 1999, with her family by her side.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Petoskey. The Rev. Walter Teske will officiate and interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Harbor Springs.

Minnie was born Jan. 7, 1913, in Blinsmon Township, South Dakota, the daughter of Harm and Tillie (Wendland) Rosebohm. She attended South Dakota schools.

In 1937, she moved to the Harbor Springs area with her family, which is where she had made her home since.

On Nov. 15, 1947, she married Peter Wiklanski.

Mrs. Wiklanski worked as a domestic worker and laundress in the Harbor Springs area. During World War II, she worked at a local canvas shop to help the war effort.

Mr. Wiklanski preceded her in death in 1970.

She enjoyed gardening, mushrooming, baking and sewing. She taught her grandchildren much about wild berries and flowers.

Survivors include her daughter, Harriet Smolinski and her husband, Craig, of Petoskey; son, Roger Wiklanski and his wife, Linda, of Harbor Springs; six grandchildren, Haley, Beth and Ben Smolinski, all of Petoskey, and Daniel, James and Maggie Wiklanski, all of Harbor Springs; brother, Arthur “Pete” Rosebohm and his wife, Mildred, of Alanson; sister, Elsie “Toots” Kasuske, of Oden; sisters-in-law, Faye Rosebohm of Harbor Springs, Maude Wiklanski of Pellston, and Josephine Wareck and her husband, Si, of Petoskey; special friend, Ginger Johnson, of Alanson; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. Envelopes for memorials are available at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.
