Stephen Krussell
Dies Unexpectedly

Stephen Peter Krussell, resident of Petoskey since 1878, died unexpectedly Sunday at his farm home in Bear Creek township. He lacked one day of being 87 years of age and enjoyed a wide acquaintance in both city and farm regions.

Mr. Krussell was born in Berlin, Germany, April 17, 1852, and on September 20, 1876, he married Martha Jarnisky. They came to Boston in 1877. After a year in that city they came to Petoskey and he was employed by the late H. O. Rose.

Fifty years ago----April 20, 1889----they moved to their farm in Bear Creek township. Mrs. Krussell died on April 6, 1935.

Surviving him are nine children, Mrs. Mary Jablinskey, Harbor Springs; John Krusell, Battle Creek; Henry Krussell, Grand Rapids; Mrs. Stasia Kopenkoskey, Mrs. Anna Konle, Mrs. George Phillips, Frank Krussell, Mrs. John Campbell and Thomas Krussell, all of Petoskey. There are 55 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, April 20, from St. Francis church where he was a member, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Grandsons of Mr. Krussell will serve as altar boys and as bearers at the funeral.
