Stewart W. Bennett, 70
Stewart W. Bennett, 70, of Levering, died Aug. 20, 1995, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Schiller Funeral Chapel of Pellston. The Rev. Wayne Shidler of the Bliss Missionary Church will officiate, and burial will take place in Bliss Township Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Grand Rapids, the son of Clinton and Ruth (Stewart) Bennett.
He grew up in Grand Rapids and Levering and attended school in Levering.
On March 25, 1968, he married Nora Fox in Petoskey, and she survives.
Mr. Bennett served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in North Africa.
He worked for the Emmet County Road Commission for 22 1/2 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Bennett enjoyed reading, camping, fishing and his family and friends. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Nora; three sons, Terry and his wife, Ruth, of Stuart, Fla., Dennis of Petoskey, and Gerald and his wife, Jackie, of Bellaire; four daughters, Debra Thompson and her husband, Melvin, of Grandville, Danette Osier and her husband, Ray, of Wolverine, Wendy Langston and her husband, Rockie, of Ann Arbor, and Dawn of Levering; 11 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; four brothers, Harvey and his wife, Anita, of Levering, Max and his wife, Sue, of Ann Arbor, Rodney and his wife, Edith, of Avondale, Ariz., and Douglas of Flint; five sisters, Margie Strand and her husband, Harold, of Alanson, Maxine Byard and her husband, J. C., of Levering, Norma Leonard of Romeo, Patsy Smith and her husband, Frank, of Charlevoix, and Clella Bennett of Brutus; his mother, Ruth Bennett; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his father, Clinton; two brothers, Delbert and Donald; and by one granddaughter, Kelly Jo Thompson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Schiller Funeral Chapel in Pellston.
