Thomas Joseph Steffel, 75

Thomas Joseph Steffel, 75, died March 15, 2008, at his home in Petoskey.

The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey with the Rev. Dennis Stilwell officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.

Thomas Joseph Steffel, 75

Thomas Joseph Steffel, 75, died March 15, 2008, at his home on the family farm on Country Club Road, where he lived and worked since childhood until his illness.

Tom was born on Dec. 21, 1932, in Petoskey, the son of George J. and Mayme (Fettig) Steffel and attended St. Francis School until the 10th grade and then graduated from Petoskey High School in 1952.

Besides being a farmer, he became a master plumber and worked for Ballard’s Plumbing and Heating for 42 years.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Patricia Steffel.

Tom is survived by three brothers, Richard, James and Ronald Steffel, all of Petoskey; two sisters, Eleanor Spears of Northport and Mary Jean (Stephen) Lickfeldt of Petoskey; 10 much loved nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey with the Rev. Dennis Stilwell officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.

Memorial donations in Tom’s memory may be made to St. Francis School or Hospice of Little Traverse Bay. Envelopes for Masses will be available at the funeral home.
