Elaine thank you for the information. My mom was interested in where her grandmother came from. Do you know where Emma or William were born? Mom took me to the cemetary in Cross Village where they are buried, but that was all I knew. She said there was a fire in Cross Village years ago that destroyed all of the records. Russell is actually my grandfather's middle name, my mom picked up on that. His birth certificate and marriage license list him as Charles Russell Warner. Here's the information my mom could remember:

  • Lawrence m. Ada Wilcock? not sure of Ada last name, they had no children.
  • Bertha was married twice, don't know first husband, 2nd was Tom? Smucker, they had 1 boy Tom and 2 step daughters. Mom says Tom lives in Minnesota now.
  • William C. (he was a little slow) m. Lottie ? Slightly retarded and they hand 2 boys Francis and Eugene. She said that Willy and Lottie were unable to care for the boys properly, so they were raised by neighbors the Johnsons or Johnstons.
  • Carrie v. m ? Crego or Crago, he was killed in the war and they had 1 daughter Anthea.

I don't have any dates, but next time I visit Michigan I'll try to get to the Emmet county court house. Mom says my Aunt Marie still stays in touch with Eugene Warner. I don't see her that often, but will try to get more information from her.
