William "Bill" Powers (February 28, 1939 - November 14, 2013)

William "Bill" Powers of Petoskey died Nov. 14, 2013 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 20, 2013 at Stone Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday Nov. 19 from 6-8 PM at Stone Funeral Home. The Rev. Father Dennis Stillwell of St. Francis will officiate the services, and the burial will be in Harbor Springs cemetery.

William was born February 28th, 1939, the son of William S. Powers and Patricia Morris. He grew up in Petoskey and attended St. Francis schools, grades 1-12.

On April 27, 1963, he married Diana M. Lemieur in Petoskey at St. Francis Church. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked as a tool and dye maker at McLaughlin Co.

His hobbies were woodworking, fishing, and he was an avid reader. He was a member of the U.A.W. and the N.R.A.

Further survived by his loving wife, Diana M. Powers and 2 sons, Jeffery and Margaret (Platz) Powers, and Eric and Julie (Taylor) Powers. 5 grandchildren, Nathan and Lexi (Ogden) Holmes, Shaeffer Powers, the late Aaron Platz, Sean Platz, and Megan Platz, and great grandson Logan Holmes.

Bill was quiet by nature and loved to read everything, especially all about the history of Petoskey and Harbor Springs. Bill enjoyed his family gatherings, making gifts for others, and playing with the grandkids. He had fond memories of nature and fishing with friends. Bill was thoughtful, kind, and giving. He had a generous spirit and a beautiful soul. He will be missed by many.
