ANDREW J SPENCLEY July 10, 1932 - July 22, 2014
Andrew "J" Spencley, 82 of McKinley Township, died July 22, 2014 at the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Andy was born on July 10, 1932 in Carp Lake Township to Roy and Edna (Holmes) Spencley.
He served on the US Roanoke from 1950-1953. Upon discharge he moved to Flint, Michigan and worked at Chevrolet and Buick. In 1963 he joined the Carpenters Local 1373 and was employed by Erickson-Lindstrom Construction Company as Carpenter foreman and Superintendant.
On July 9, 1955 he married Angie Andreozzi. They made their home in Flint, Michigan before moving to Levering, Michigan in 1973 and built their home on US 31.
He worked for Comstock Construction and as a superintendant at Northern Michigan Hospital remodeling the Cath Lab. He retired at age 59 from Local 202. Since retiring he loved keeping busy making and selling wood lawn ornaments and windmills. He was known as the windmill man. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He loved spending time with his family and took great pride in his craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Edna (Holmes) Spencley. His sister Rosalie Fitzpatrick brother Richard Holmes, and special friends Bee and Tootie Hall.
He is survived by wife Angie. Their six children Debra (Russ) Miller, Diana Spencley, Andy Paul (Judy) Spencley, Gerald (Pam) Spencley, Sandra (Sid) Yarbrough, Trina (Mike) Geary. Also many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Siblings Thomas (Anna Mae) Spencley, Dorothy (Jim) Balliet, Charles (Evelyn) Spencley, Roger (Nancy) Spencley, and Pete (Sharon) Spencley.
There will be a viewing on Thursday July 24th at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue on Friday July 25th at 10:00 AM at St. Clements Catholic Church in Pellston, Michigan with a mass following at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in Bliss Township Cemetery.
