Elmer Livingston
Rites are Monday

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Elmer D. Livingston, 53, at St. Francis Xavier Church Monday, 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

He was stricken at home with an apparent heart attack and died this morning at Little Traverse Hospital.

Mr. Livingston was born in Boyne City September 6, 1916.

He married May Lybarker in Flint in 1935 and they moved to Petoskey in 1944.

Mr. Livingston was former owner of the Sandwich Grill and was Emmet County deputy sheriff for 20 years and marine deputy the past two years.

He was a veteran of World War II and had served with the Military Police. He had been a Golden Gloves trainer for many years in Petoskey and was also assistant trainer for the high school football teams.

He was a member of the National Sheriff’s Assc. and a former member of the American Legion.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert L. of Boyne Falls and Grover, of Petoskey; four daughters, Mrs. Leo (Carol) Guzniczak, of Schwartz Creek, Mrs. Ray (Roberta) Malec, of Petoskey, Mrs. Clair (Marilyn) Stults, of Petoskey, Mrs. James (Martha) Fent, of St. Louis, Mich.; his mother, Mrs. Ida Johnston, of Petoskey; 20 grandchildren; two brothers, Donald of Clio and Norman, of Detroit; five sisters, Mrs. Ivan Billington, Flint, Mrs. William Burns, of Boyne City, Mrs. Lois Griffin, of Boyne City, Mrs. Frank Sakley of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Raymond Green, of Petoskey.

The members of Mr. Livingston’s family suggest that anyone wishing to honor his memory may do so by contributing to their favorite charity in his name.

The rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Desnoyer Funeral Home where friends may call.
