John 'Johnnie' W. Keshick II

John "Johnnie" W. Keshick II, born Aug. 21, 1932, passed away at his home in Levering, Mich., on Sept. 26, 2012. John was a citizen of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his first wife, Mary Keshick, mother of John Keshick III (Michele), Yvonne Fuerte (Bartolo), Donald Keshick, Robert Keshick, Theresa Keshick and Linda Gokee. He is survived by his second wife, Yvonne Walker Keshick, mother of Kimberly Worthington (Russell) and Jacob Keshick (Tiffany).

He is also survived by his daughter, Gail Wabanimkee; siblings, Emily Harrington, Harbor Springs, Marie Miller, Harbor Springs, Margaret Compo, Lansing, and Gary Compo, Lansing; and by 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his mother and father, Lucy Peaine Keshick Compo and John W. Keshick I; siblings, Howard Keshick, Robert Keshick, Rosella Keshick Hemstreet, Elmer Keshick, Amelia Compeaux, Joseph Compo, and Peter Compo.

Children preceding him in death are: Maria Keshick, Marsha Keshick, Ronald Keshick and Gregory Keshick.

A family viewing is at 1 p.m. and public visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today, Monday, Oct. 1, at the Little Traverse Bay Bands Community Center on 5656 Ap-Gish-Mok Boulevard in Harbor Springs. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. and funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2. There will be a luncheon immediately following. Burial will take place at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Indian Point Cemetery in Nahma, Mich. Graveside ceremony will be conducted at that time.
