Leota (McDonald) Boda, 80

Leota (McDonald) Boda went to her Lord on Jan. 9, 2003, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Leota was born on April 25, 1922, to Charles and Phebe (Shinn) McDonald, in Bear Creek Township. When she was a small child the family moved to Pellston.

She married Daniel Gilbert Boda of Pellston on Jan. 5, 1942, at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Pellston.

She worked for many years at Anderson’s Café in Pellston and then later for Control Engineering of Pellston, retiring on April 24, 1984.

She was a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society.

She is survived by her seven children, Dan (Ellen) Boda of Cheboygan, Donna (Rod) Searles of Levering, Arlene (Ron) Brilley of Pellston, Carolyn (Gordon) Taglauer of Afton, Marilyn (Charles) McDonald of Burt Lake, Phebe Boda of Pellston, and Sharalee Boda of Williamston, Mich. Also surviving are her 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Addie Cabinaw and Lillie McMichael of Pellston.

Her husband, parents, three brothers, Lee, Gordon and Bob, as well as a sisters, Betty, all preceded her in death.

Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Pellston. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the spring at St. Clement’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
