Wells Advocate, Thursday, February 27, 1896:

Passed Away from Earth

Mrs. Aug. Biederman died last Friday, of pneumonia, after a short illness. Her death was sudden and unexpected. She was supposed to be on the road to recovery, and when she died the children were at school and her husband attending to duties in town, but she was under the care of her parents.

She was born in Kybourg, Switzerland, May 25, 1851. Was married in Oshkosh, Wis., April 4, 1871 and has lived in this vicinity for about 11 years. She leaves a husband, five sons, two daughters, father, mother and sister. The latter lives in Michigan. The oldest child is 23 years and the youngest 3.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the M.E. church, the services being conducted by Rev. Lutz and Rev Schumperlin. The Sons of Herman had charge of the funeral and large delegations from the A.O.U.W. and Odd Fellows lodges were present to sympathize with a bereaved brother.

Mrs. Biederman was a Christian woman with many noble and good qualities, and was sincerely loved by all that knew her.

Testimony of Selina Heinz, January 6, 1913:
I reside in the township of Matchwood in the county of Ontonagon and State of Michigan. I am the wife of Frank Heinz, the petitioner. I was acquainted with Rudolf Salzman in his lifetime. Rudolf Salzman was my father, he died on the first day of March, 1899, at my home in the township of Matchwood, Ontonagon county, Michigan. He left surviving him no issue, except myself; his widow Barbara Salzman survived him. She departed this life on the nineteenth day of October 1900. The only issue of Rudolph Salzman were Susanna Beiderman and myself; Susanna Beiderman departed this life on the twenty first day of February 1896, and left her surviving the following issue: Julius Beiderman, son age 37; Hugo Beiderman, son age 31; Mrs. Robert Messner, daughter, age 25; August Beiderman, son age 27; Alvina Beiderman, daughter age 23; Oscar Beiderman, son, age 20. I am looking for information on Rudolph and Barbara Salzmann. My great grandmother - Susanna Salzmann Biedermann was their daughter. Susanna was born in Kybourg, Switzerland in 1851, married in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1871 and died in Wells, Minnesota in 1896. There was another daughter in the family, Selina. Rudolph and Barbara were living in the Wells, MN area when Susanna died but I don't know what happened after that.

I can't believe you are a relative! Rudolph and Barbara have been very elusive for me to find anything about. Selina was the daughter that I am related to! She married Gottlieb (Frank) Heinz in Weyauwega, Waupaca, Wisconsin in 1880. Selina and Frank moved to Michigan. In the 1900 census Barbara was living with them- Rudolph and Frank made a couple of land purchases that I have record of. I never found the death dates for Rudolph or Barbara. I have the naturalization record for Rudolph and found them in Iola, Waupaca, Wisconsin in the 1875 and 1885 census. He immigrated to New York in Feb 1872. It appears that Barbara and Selina came in 1874. All I have ever know about them is that they were from Switzerland. I have pictures of Selina. Would love to hear from you!
